On Getting a Liposuction

Most of the time I feel like the solution to my weight problem is getting a liposuction. It’s not that I am bordering to obesity, my real problem is the localized deposits of fats in my abdomen, arms and thighs. It’s been bothering me for a very long time plus it does affect my self esteem. I feel small and it affects my relationship with my friends and family. I have tried different kind of diets and there seems to have no effect at all.

In a couple of months from now I’ll be moving to Singapore to start on my new job and I am planning on to get a liposuction in Singapore. You might be wondering why on Singapore? I don’t want my family to worry about me getting a liposuction. Plus I wanted to start my life there not feeling small and defeated because I don’t feel something good about myself. It’s time for a make-over, I guess.

So I did my research hoping that liposuction could be the solution to my long time problem.

Here’s what I gathered:

Liposuction also known as lipoplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery that breaks up and sucks fats from the body. It is commonly used on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, neck, chin, upper and backs of the arms, calves and back. Liposuction removes fats from your body using suction. Its main purpose is to reshape or sculpt one or more areas of your body. There are different liposuction techniques; these are Tumescent liposuction, Ultrasound-assisted liposuction and laser-assisted liposuction. To be a good candidate one must have a minimal amount of excess skin and good skin elasticity, you are physically fit, not more than 20 pounds overweight and your weight is stable. The procedure may be performed under regional, local or general anesthesia. It involves using a cannula and negative pressure to suck out fat. Side effects include bruising, swelling, scars, pain, numbness and limited mobility. It will roughly cost you at around $2,000 - $ 3,500 depending on what body parts. I should note that weight loss from liposuction appears to be of a short term nature with a long term effect. Most importantly, it is a surgery and every surgery has risk factors to consider.

It is quite expensive to be honest. And it doesn’t guarantee a long term effect so as much as I want to get liposuction as soon as possible; I know I still need to think about it multiple times. If I have to get a liposuction in Singapore then I should be prepare myself to be financially, physically and emotionally ready. I need to work hard for it. Good thing that my favorite cliché is no pain no gain.

I know may sound superficial to others that I have to sort to liposuction. But let us all remember that there is nothing wrong on wanting to feel good about ourselves. If liposuction can give that boost of self esteem to anyone then we should learn to respect that and be not too judgmental about it.
